Our story

A family recipe,
made by hand.

Hand-roasted Mauritian spice blends from Amma's recipe. Here is the story behind them.

Amma's recipe

It starts with Amma.

Amma is Wendy's husband's grandmother. Her recipe has been passed down through the family, and with it a delicious cooking heritage that Kura Podi is here to share.

Nothing about the method has changed. The blends are prepared today the same way they always have been.

How it's made

Every batch, made the same way.

Four steps, the same every time.

  1. Sourced with care

It begins with the spices themselves. Each one is sourced with care.

  2. Roasted separately

Every spice is roasted on its own, by hand, rather than all together.

  3. Blended

Once roasted, the spices are brought together following Amma's recipe.

  4. Ground

The blend is ground to a fine, balanced finish.

The maker

Wendy makes every batch herself.

Kura Podi is made in Surrey, in small batches. Wendy sources, roasts, blends and grinds each one herself.

Working in small batches keeps it hands-on, from the first spice to the finished blend.
